Seiko SDGA003
Solar-powered watch
Seiko presents the SDGA003 model, an EPD watch which uses an active matrix system and solar power. EPD stands for electrophoretic display and indicates the migration of electrically charged particles in an electric field.
Unlike the normal display system, the active matrix system allows display with multitude of tiny dots, which are capable of showing any shapes in any position at 300 dpi resolution. The new model features a large clear display, which requires only 1/100th of the power that would be needed to run an e-Book reader using the same sized screen
This thin solar-powered watch with world time function is an evolution of the 2005 E-Ink watch. While the E-Ink watch was more oriented on the aesthetic design and on the emotional design of the display, the new Seiko watch focuses on the advantages of EPD technology – optimum readability and infinite display capabilities.
